Why we’re so excited

Oh this country!

Can someone tell us what’s going on here? From neon lit streets, to robot cafes, to restaurants operated by real—life private detectives, to bullet trains, manga culture and street food. Japan will first blow your mind, and then blow your mind again.

Designing this experience in Japan was the most fun we’ve had in recent times — and talking to local experts from Japan added to the magic.

From futuristic Tokyo to modern Osaka to ancient Kyoto, we designed this adventure as a story of a lifetime and I cannot wait for you to experience it.

See you in Japan, soon.

With Love,
Jay Ahya,
Founder, Experience Co.

Notes for you

Bucketlist Journeys are premium-immersive adventures

  • You’ll need an e-Visa to fly to Japan. The process can be started as early as 3 months before departure.

We have an in-house visa team who will consult you and assist you through the entire journey over calls & email.

  • Every Bucketlist edition is built end-to-end for maximum impact:

    • Handpicked chic & comfortable stays

    • On-trip transport

    • 8 Breakfasts and 4 meals

    • 7 Anchored experiences

    • Experienced Facilitator & Vibe host

    • Access to our app with day-by-day details, maps & insider tips

    • Post-trip invites to exclusive meetups & the 5,000+ member tribe community

  • We keep things transparent so you can plan ahead:

    • International & domestic flights to/from your edition start point

    • Airport Transfers

    • Travel insurance

    • Visas

    • Meals beyond those highlighted as part of each edition & drinks

    • Add-on experiences

    • Transport for self explore or activities beyond the anchored experiences

    • Gratuities, personal shopping & any unscheduled extras

  • Approximately 7250 Yen, the equivalent of USD 50 per day.

  • We recommend having a read-through of the itinerary above, and getting in touch if you have specific questions on fitness here.

This adventure is fast-paced and includes a road trip, however, the activities aren’t too strenuous so it is a fantastic trip for those with a normal level of fitness who want to see a lot in their time here. We also design our flow where we give enough downtime & space to explore on your own pace as well.

  • Fly into Tokyo’s Narita International Airport (NRT). You can book your return flight from Osaka Kansai Airport (KIX).

  • We recommend arriving in Tokyo by 1 pm, allowing ample time for immigration and reaching the hotel. You can have enough time to check in (3 pm) and rest, before the welcome meeting & dinner. Your welcome meeting with your Facilitator guide and group will begin around 5-6 pm, although we suggest getting here earlier to enjoy some free time to explore.

  • On your final day, we recommend booking flights in the afternoon so you can take it easy in the morning. The checkout is at 12 pm.

  • We don't offer airport transfers to the hotel because of the different arrival times of Bucketlister. Easiest way is to book a Fly Bus from the KEF airport to Foss Hotel Baron. We do recommend getting in touch with your fellow travellers on the WhatsApp group to coordinate if anyone is landing around the same time and take a Fly Bus to the hotel with them.

  • The luggage allowance for the transfers is 23kg. We will be travelling between the cities via trains.

  • This isn’t a flag-waving group tour. This is a well-orchestrated experience designed to leave room for discovery.

Some adventures are pre-planned. Some unfold on the fly. Add-ons can be chosen in advance, and the rest? Facilitators often suggest spontaneous ideas you can join in — like a museum pop-in, a hidden cafe stop, or a live gig. These aren’t included in the package, but they’re often the most memorable.

Expect space to explore solo, connect with your tribe, or recharge at your own pace. This is an edition, not an itinerary.

Note: Gameplans, experiences & hotels are subject to change based on on-ground conditions. These changes are rare but can happen with little notice due to availability, poor weather, seasonal changes, or other circumstances beyond our control, but we’ll always do our best to ensure it has little impact on your experience. From time to time, we may also make changes to your itinerary to try out new ideas and keep things fresh and exciting, which we will always try and communicate to you.

  • 1. Changes & Transfers

    • Request all changes in writing (by the lead traveler) as early as possible.

    • We’ll do our best to accommodate your request but cannot guarantee it.

    • A ₹7,000 administration fee + any supplier charges applies per change.

    • Changes to dates or tours allowed up to 60 days before departure; after that, they’ll be treated as cancellations.

    • You may transfer your booking up to three times (each transfer incurs the ₹7,000 fee). Further transfers require payment of any outstanding fees.

    • If we can’t accommodate your change and you opt out, it’s treated as a cancellation.

    2. Cancellations

    • Notify us in writing—cancellation takes effect on the date we receive your notice.

    • Cancellation charges per person (excluding admin fees & insurance):

      • More than 90 days before departure: your full deposit is retained

      • 45–89 days: 50% of total tour cost

      • 30–44 days: 75% of total tour cost

      • Less than 30 days: 100% of total tour cost

    • All fees are based on the original start date, even after transfers.

    • Amendment fees, insurance premiums, single supplements, extra nights, and optional experiences are non-refundable per the above schedule.

    3. Credit Voucher Option

    • For a ₹7,000 fee, convert your payment into a 3-month credit voucher (non-transferable, single use).

    • If your new booking costs less than the voucher value, no refunds or additional credit will be issued.

We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance to cover any unforeseen cancellations or changes.

Intrigued?

Why did we start Bucketlist?

As creators, founders ourselves, we know that travelling the world has made us more aware about the world outside & inside. We find travel to be an excellent facilitator of new ideas, perspectives & inspiration — something extremely critical for unlocking your potential. Bucketlist intends to create access to global experiences that help people level up.

How does it work?

Bucketlist curates its travellers, which means not everyone can buy a ticket. To join an adventure, you need to request an invite, after which the team screens your request and sends you an invite if Bucketlist is relevant to you. Once you get your invite, you can make a 20% advance payment to confirm your spot.

How much does it cost?

Bucketlists cost approximately the same as you’d spend on a solo vacation in that destination. However, the value add you get is curated folks, handcrafted experiences & a journey that feels like a flow.

Who leads the journeys?

Our journeys are designed in collaboration with the very people who know them best: handpicked local creators and globetrotters whose passion is your passport to inspiration. If it doesn’t inspire them, it won’t inspire you. Simple! On ground, our facilitators anchor the editions-end to end-so all you have to do is show up and dive into the adventure.

Who will I meet?

You’ll connect with a curated mix of passionate adventurers - think culture curators hunting hidden gems, experience collectors, social energisers who spark instant camaraderie, and idea alchemists turning sunset chats into “aha” moments. Each person’s handpicked for positivity, curiosity, and a shared love of levelling up through travel. Pack an open heart and get ready to meet your next lifelong friends!

Can I ask for travel assistance?

Our round-the-clock team means you will always get help when you need it. We want your travel to be smooth, so outside of the well-designed travel dashboard and curated guidebook, our team will be happy to assist with travel, visa, flights or additional bookings.

Why Bucketlist?

The World has a lot to offer / As creators & founders, we look for inspiration in everything we do. We don’t know where the next epiphanies lie. One of the ways we’ve found to engineer serendipity, level up & create space for epiphanies is through new experiences & travel.

We have a lot to share / Hosting festivals, BHX, collaborating with brands and exploring the world has taught us a few things about creating experiences that move - creating communities where none exist.

You asked for it / Everytime we’ve hungout with creators, founders, movement makers, culture shifters in Shillong or in Berlin — they haven’t stopped asking us for more. SOTC, Solo Travel & travelling with friends just doesn’t cut it for them. And there is a big big world to explore. We wished for this and you asked for it.
